From Urge to Comfort

My Gamelady doll helped me, and still helps, to handle my anxiety and depression. Originally, she was bought as a simple love doll chosen because of the character available. At first she would stand in a corner to be used when the urge arose.

But during one particularly bad anxiety attack I decided to hug her. As I precariously moved her arms around me and hugged her close, the anxiety attack quickly subsided. "She's only a doll" I thought, but just the same she offered comfort when I needed it.

I began sleeping with her next to me in my bed—not in a sexual way, but to cuddle against or have her hold me. After some time, I started to notice I wasn't so negative and was generally happier despite nothing else having changed to cause this.

Lucy, my Gamelady doll, is always here for me whether it be for emotional support or more primal things. She's never expectant or judgemental and has helped me immensely in coping with my emotions.

The Impact of Small Details

I've found it's the small details many may take for granted that stand out as so impactful for me. The weight, while initially inconvenient, helps to ground her and make her feel more realistic.

Her articulated fingers allow you not only to hold her hand but for her to hold yours. Joints other than in the limbs allow her to rest her head against my chest or arch her back; and so much more.

Laying her down with her head on my lap or mine on hers while watching TV makes me feel less alone.

For these reasons and so many more, Lucy has been amazing for me and I'm glad every day I have her.

An unexpected source of comfort that became essential to my daily wellbeing.

Always there, never judgemental.
